Spring: The Most Popular Time
After a New Jersey winter, your windows have taken a beating. Between road salt spray, pollen, and whatever else blew around during those nor'easters, spring is when most homeowners notice their windows look rough.
March through May is our busiest season for window cleaning, and for good reason. The weather is mild, the days are getting longer, and once those windows are clean, you can actually enjoy the view again.
One tip: if you have a lot of pollen-producing trees near your home, wait until late April or early May. Getting your windows cleaned in the middle of pollen season means they'll be yellow again within a week.
Fall: The Underrated Season
Fall is honestly the best-kept secret for window cleaning. The pollen is done, the humidity has dropped, and you've got a few months of clear views ahead before winter hits. Cleaning your windows in September or October also removes the summer buildup of dust, bug residue, and hard water spots from sprinklers.
Plus, if you're having guests over for the holidays, clean windows make the whole house feel sharper. It's one of those things people notice without realizing they're noticing it.
Summer: Works Fine, Just Plan Around the Heat
We work through the summer without any issues. The only thing to keep in mind is that direct, intense sunlight can cause cleaning solution to dry too fast, which leaves streaks. We plan our approach around this (starting on the shaded side, working early mornings on hot days), so it's not something you need to worry about.
Winter: Possible But Not Ideal
We can clean windows in the winter as long as temperatures are above freezing. Below about 35 degrees, water starts freezing on the glass before we can squeegee it off, and that doesn't do anyone any favors.
That said, if you have a commercial property that needs windows done in January, we'll find a way to make it work. Interior window cleaning is completely unaffected by weather, so that's always an option.
How Often Should You Clean Them?
For most homes in central New Jersey, twice a year (spring and fall) keeps your windows looking great. If you live on a busy road, near a farm, or in a wooded area with a lot of pollen, three times a year might be worth it.
Commercial properties typically need more frequent cleaning. Monthly or quarterly is standard depending on the type of business and foot traffic.
